Terra Madre Dinner-December 10th

An opportunity came my way to participate in an evening of honest food, in the company of other local chef’s representing the ideals behind the Slow Food Movement. Our South Okanagan food community of food lovers alike breaking bread together and offering thoughts of how we can help to improve our food system. It most certainly will be a great evening cooking together in one kitchen! Come join us at Miradoro Restaurant, at Tinhorn Creek Winery, Tuesday December 10th. Fun and “Game” in the Chefcave….

What a great couple of weeks it has been for the butcher in me…..Truly one of my passions has always been the art of butchery. The ethics behind paying tribute to nature in its purest form-free range, hormone free, natural and sustainable wild game-and it is most certainly abundant, although the true beauty is that it is responsibly monitored to ensure it remains sustainable. Fall is here on the farm !!!!!!!!!!

What a summer it was! As the leaves turn, and a bit of a chill comes into the air, the last of our tomatoes are hanging- and we are hoping for the warmth of these sunny days to ripen the last of our harvest for the season. Our house smells of quince-got them after a call from fellow food lover and chef Jeff-  we take delight in the floral aroma in the house, not to mention the end result of a lengthy romantic simmering………   As this time of year dictates, I have started handcrafting this seasons preserving line in the “backyard kitchen”. As per usual, I...

Painted Rock Grand Opening, Covert Farm’s Feast!

What an outstanding weekend, filled with yet another opportunity to cook honest food for some great guests-and representing fantastic local wines…. Thursday evening was a great representation of the harmony between passionate farmers and wine. I was invited to help out my friend and fellow “localvore” advocate Derek Uhlemann and his team at Covert Farms prepare an outstanding dinner for the Optimian Society. Tons of fun, organic chickens, smoked whole pigs and produce-all sourced within mere kilometers of the farm(at the most). What a pleasure it was to showcase the...

Private Chef Dinner Testimonial

After an invite by CBC radio to speak about heirloom tomatoes, a gentleman arranged a surprise 4 course meal in their suite at Spirit Ridge. What a wonderful surprise for the lady! We spoke in advance of a menu, and wines were chosen to pair with a tailored menu for the lovely couple. The evening involved some fabulous local wines, and was finished off with a bottle of 1994 Taylor Fladgate Vintage Port. After preparing dinner, a bottle of the same port was generously given to me to add to our cellar-in which I have set aside to celebrate a future event…… In the end...
